Health Promotion Organization (HPO) is a fully registered Rwandan-based Non-Governmental Organization operating in the City of Kigali, Gasabo District. We bring together public health fellows to collectively address community health problems.

Our Story

Health Promotion Organization was founded with a vision to create healthier communities through sustainable and community-driven initiatives. Our journey began with a small team of dedicated public health professionals who were passionate about making a difference.

Over the years, we have grown into a respected organization that specializes in designing and implementing community-centered initiatives in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Maternal and Child Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Environmental protection, and prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Today, we continue to work closely with communities, partners, and stakeholders to address public health challenges and promote sustainable development across Rwanda and beyond.

Our Objectives

To contribute to the achievement of SDG 3 (Good health and wellbeing), SDG 6 (Clean water and sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate action).

To organize community outreaches in communities to identify public health problems and create innovative solutions.

To work in multisectoral collaboration with health sectors and other related sectors to holistically improve community health and welfare.

To solely carry out research activities and/or in partnership with other organizations to promote health locally and internationally.

Working closely with students' associations and fresh graduates for career development and orientation through organisation trainings; internships and community activities.

Promoting clean and healthy environmental activities to maintain health of the population and prevent diseases caused by unhealthy environment.

Strengthen nutrition sensitive and specific interventions to improve community health and fight against all forms of malnutrition.

Empower and educate youths to have access and share SRHR information to fight against unplanned pregnancies and sexual transmittable diseases.

To fight against gender based violence and promote gender equality.
